The Reason Bees are Dying

As a beekeeper, I have been watching for scientific evidence of colony collapse disorder over the past several years.  The article linked below is the first one that seems to report science that has gotten to the bottom of the problem.  This is considered the single greatest threat to the world food supply, since bees pollinate many crops, which would not produce well or at all without them.  Long story short...

" But three new studies point an accusing finger at a culprit that many have suspected all along, a class of pesticides known as neonicotinoids.  In the U.S. alone, these pesticides, produced primarily by the German chemical giant Bayer and known as “neonics” for short, coat a massive 142 million acres of corn, wheat, soy and cotton seeds. They are also a common ingredient in home gardening products."

Due to copyright restrictions, I can't repost this article, so here is the original link to read:

What should Christians do about this?  What does the Bible say about this?

This crazy, as a Christian it seems like the only things we can do are talk to our senators and congressman and pray. It would be horrible if all the bees died out!

Yeah we need to protect our environment.
I agree we are supposed to protect and care for the environment We were giving that job that command. In our culture today we have the people who don't really care about the animals, plants or the environment in general. Then there's the ones who have taken protecting the earth so seriously it's almost to much. Some of the ones I have known take it so seriously they kind of worship the plants or animals, the creation. So as Christians we have to find the balance, we do need to care for what God has given us but worship the Creator for the gift of creation not worship the creation.

Heather well stated! There has to be a balance. God gave us a blessing of His creation for us to enjoy, instead we take it and worship it when it is really just an art peice. How dumb we must look and be. haha
Is like the Bee movie when the flowers all die because the bees stop doing their job! Bees always make me thing Gods creation and how the whole system works so well. Think about it the small
little bee has such a huge job pollinating and our food and everything grows well because of a bee.

Yeah I though about that movie too when I read this. That would be a tragedy if it actually came true.
We as Christian's should be protecting the bees we need to speak up for Gods creation, the bible says that God made all things, so he made the Bees the have a special purpose and design in Gods amazing world.

"The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." Gen. 2:15.
God gave mankind a job to take care of the earth. If all the bees are dying out, it is our job to make sure they are taken care of. If they go instinked it will make our lives that much harder to produse the flowers.

I agree, God told us to take care of nature and it is our responsibility to do so.

Good point. But if all the bees die out then we will die out!!
I know that dad doesn't use pesticides on our plants for a variety of reasons. But people really need to hear about this. Increasing public awareness could do a world of good. People might think twice before they spray their gardens, and maybe even quite using the stuff that's killing the bees.

Bees are so important to our earth!! We have to keep them healthy! I hope people stop using chemical pesticides that are toxic to bees and the bees make a real comeback soon.

Bees are needed in our world, and God put them on this earth for a reason, they have a job to do. Just like God gave His people a job to do. God commands us to take care of this world. It is our job as Christians to take care of the bees, if that means to stop spraying chemicals that are toxic to the bees then we better stop.
